EARLY WINTER PRÉSENTÉ AU FESTIVAL QUEBECINE DE MEXICO

Pour sa 3ème édition, le Festival QUEBECINÉ s'entourera de cinq invités spéciaux : Michael Rowe, Bachir Bensaddek, Éric K. Boulianne, Sophie Goyette et Chloé Leriche. Organisé en collaboration avec la Cineteca Nacional de Mexico, qui accueille plus d’un million de spectateurs annuellement, l’événement offre une vitrine de premier plan aux cinéastes québécois en Amérique latine. Seul festival voué à la promotion du cinéma québécois en Amérique latine, QUEBECINE MX présente chaque année une sélection de 10 longs-métrages de cinéastes indépendants. En pleine expansion à la suite du succès remporté par ses précédentes éditions, cet événement annuel prendra non seulement l’affiche à la Cineteca Nacional de Mexico du 9 au 19 février 2017, mais également, pour la première fois, à la Cineteca Alameda de San Luis Potosi du 1er au 10 mars 2017.

À cette occasion, EARLY WINTER sera projeté les 12 et 19 février à la Cineteca en présence du réalisateur Michael Rowe.

Screen Daily revient sur la présence québécoise au Festival Les Arcs

Serge Noël de la société de production Possibles Média s'est rendu en décembre dernier au Festival Les Arcs. Retour sur sa participation au pannel "Coproduire avec le Québec" avec l'exemple de Fatima

LAND OF OPPORTUNITIES

The realities and opportunities for collaboration between Europe and Quebec were on the table at the panel ‘Co-producing with Quebec’, moderated by Screen International. Two case studies illustrated the topic: Philippe Faucon’s Fatima, which premiered in Directors’ Fortnight at Cannes in 2015; and Fulvio Bernasconi’s Misery.

The panel included the producers of both films: Nadim Cheikhrouha from France’s Tanit Films and Serge Noel from Quebec’s Possibles Media for Fatima; and Jean-Marc Frohle from Switzerland’s Point Prod and Nicolas Comeau from Quebec’s 1976 Productions for Misery. They were joined by Julie Morin, head of business relations at Sodec, Quebec’s provincial government funding body.

In Fatima’s case, a French production set in France, Quebec’s involvement might not have been obvious from the start but, noted Noel, “[getting involved] came from a desire to have this film exist. The participation of Sodec was instrumental in keeping this project alive and we were then able to complete the financing.”

Even though the film did not shoot in Canada, Noel explained, “Sodec supports minority co-productions with the idea of fostering the place of Quebec producers in the international scene as co-production partners.”
